Adam Day LIVE at Acoustic Long Island 08-04-2010

Adam Day – This kid – he’s right off the farm, or maybe picked up from the side of the road, dirty hair and unshaven, mouth like a sailor, and manners like a distinguished gentleman. He can talk to you on anything from yesterday’s hangover to 20th century literary figures. He’ll tell you stories that will bust your gut laughing, and others that will shut you up and make you wonder where this kid is from. You listen to him, you think about where you grew up, who you’ve loved, who you might find, or where you might end up. You’re sad, excited, and can’t stop smiling all at once. This is 25 year-old Adam Day, hailing from Baltimore, MD with a guitar in-hand and a story on his breath. In the vein of James Taylor, John Mayer, and, Ray LaMontagne Day has been stunning audiences with meticulously crafted songs and stories about the complexities of the human experience. In every town that he resides, this quirky, at-times-awkward, and lovable fellow garners local celebrity and is loved by those with an appreciation for well-written and melodic folk rock tunes. Rachel Griffin – A native of in Portland, Maine, Rachel Griffin now calls New York City her home. Rachel began performing in the musical theater at age seven, appearing in venues throughout Maine. In March of 2003, she released her first independent CD, “Let It Go,” receiving rave reviews for her CD and live performances. The Portland Press Herald stated, “Rachel Griffin, at the ripe old age of 20, is putting out music like a veteran. She calls it ‘jazz influenced pop.’ I call it better than Norah Jones.” Rachel Griffin has continued to be a prolific songwriter, and in March 2004 she released her sophomore album, “I’m Up to No Good.” In reviewing the album, The Portland Phoenix wrote, “her vocal abilities contin ue to progress to the point where, on pure vocal talent (range, delivery, projection) she’s likely among the top five local female singers, with people like Carol Noonan and Sara Cox” and described the title track as “scrumptious.” Rachel’s songwriting skills have not gone unnoticed. Rachel won 2nd place in American Idol Undergrounds pop songwriting competition for her song “Alone”. The contest was judged by Verdine White (from Earth, Wind and Fire), Preston Glass, and Kimberly Caldwell. ALI Summer Concert ’10 Pt.4: Chris Trapper

Chris Trapper — The trick to the irresistibly organic, pure pop sound is that the music, and even the lead singer, take a back seat to the real star: the songs. As the principal songwriter and singer for nationally acclaimed alt-rock trio The Push Stars, Chris Trapper is equally sure-footed in his solo career. When on hiatus from The Push Stars, Chris writes, records and tours in support of his solo CD’s. “Trapper sounds like the 21st-century young popster he is.” –The Washington Post. “Chris Trapper plays unassuming pop rock with a touch of Big Star soul…” –The Chicago Reader His words and music can best be described as an interesting blend of 1950’s pop, 1990’s rock and old-timey jazz with the ever-present under story of Chris’ distinctive baritenor. It’s intricate power-pop with a compelling knack for telling everyday stories. His ability to craft songs that are both elegant and accessible is evident on each collection. His organic understanding of classic pop melody is infectious. There is a smart, honest quality to the lyrics that never panders. For more, go to www.christrapper.com.
